Taking a Break
We decided to enjoy this Sunday by NOT planning a wedding or spend all day driving to Nogales. Danny had never been hiking in the Superstition Mountains yet so we decided to roam and enjoy the great weather today. It was perfect. Everything was green and there were so many wildflowers blooming. Plus, we needed a little kick in the ass. It's wedding workout time if we are going to look lean and mean on the big day. 6 months 18days!

October 3, 2009!
Churches have been scoped. Decisions have been made. A date has been set. Are you ready!?! Yes, a monumental event has occurred. Please mark your calendars for October 3, 2009. I'll make it official by mailing all invited guests with a save-the-date card. Please check back for more details on accommodations, directions and travel information. Holy Mission Impossible?
So yet another Sunday dedicated to finding a Catholic church. We had planned on only seeing two parishes. One in Green Valley and then stopping by San Xavier Mission.
San Xavier Mission, on the south edge of Tucson, is also a national park. The Mission is absolutely beautiful. But wow-tourists galore! We waited in a line just to get to the alter. That made it really hard to picture ourselves having a private and intimate wedding ceremony there.
We still haven't even confirmed whether a couple could get married there if they wanted to.
After we passed by San Xavier we drove about 15 kilometers (no miles this far south) to Green Valley in search of Our Lady of the Valley Parish. It was in a nice clean area and the mountains were visible in the distance. The interior of the church was clean and Danny complimented the stain glass windows.
My question is this: Shouldn't you feel inspired by the place in where you are saying your vows? It's been difficult going to church after church, looking for a sanctuary that is as beautiful as the love you feel for your partner. Especially when you have no previous connection to this place. We haven't formed a relationship or history with any of these parishes or people. All I have to do is smell a foul bathroom and I'm immediately turned off by the church. (deep sigh) Will this wedding ever happen?!? Needless to say we visited seven more churches besides the two I just mentioned. (another deep sigh)

OUR LADY OF THE VALLEY PARISH IN GREEN VALLEY. THIS PARISH IS APPROXIMATELY, 40 MINUTES AWAY FROM OUR RECEPTION LOCATION.
THE NEXT PHOTOS ARE OF CHURCHES LOCATED IN TUCSON. THE CATHEDRAL BELOW WAS GORGEOUS INSIDE. BUT TUCSON SEEMS A LITTLE TOO FAR TO MAKE EVERYONE DRIVE FROM TO GET TO THE RECEPTION. APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR.
I think Danny and I were a bit frazzled after this trip. But I'd like to end this post on a positive affirmation. LOVE CONQUERS ALL. Right? Stay tuned...
