HOPING A LITTLE SAMBUCCA WILL DO THE TRICK.

RIDE 'EM COWBOY!

We stayed at the Tubac Golf Resort on Friday. The resort is on the registry of Historic Hotels. Originally it was a 400-acre ranch owned by a Spanish nobleman named Don Toribio de Otero. They grew orchards and raised cattle. We also learned that part of the movie Tin Cup was filmed here. Overall, the resort is VERY quiet and very golf-oriented. Definitely not much nightlife happening here past 10pm--even on Saturdays. However, if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing atmosphere combined with a bit of history, this is the place for you.
GREEN PASTURES, GOLF AND... COWS.

The Esplendor Resort in Rio Rico was a little bit more lively when we got there. They had a deejay in the bar and the patrons were getting a little jiggy. I always find it entertaining to watch co-workers out of their element. In comparison, this resort may not have many unique qualities about it, however the grounds are nice and it's situated on a hill overlooking the mountains and valley below. The Esplendor pool is nicer than the Tubac Golf Resort and the room rates are cheaper. We toured some of the rooms and found them to be pretty basic. The standard rooms aren't necessarily very spacious--just a bed, small tv and bathroom, but perfect if you just need a place to crash. The Suites are larger with a separate livingroom (King Suites have a King bed, livingroom with pullout sofa and 2 bathrooms; Double Suites have 2 double beds, livingroom with sofa and bar (unstocked, sorry). We heard mixed reviews on the resort's restaurant, however the bar here stays open until 2am.
